1). With regard to the overall rate of disease recurrence, no significant difference was found between both groups (HR = 1.84; 95% CI 0.17-39.92; p = 0.6109).
Conclusions: Postchemotherapy L-RPLND remains technically challenging. However, the morbidity of primary bilateral post-chemotherapy
L-RPLND is similar to that of template dissection. Additional oncological safety is provided, which is particularly relevant in patients with more extensive retroperitoneal tumor volume.”
“Crambe orientalis L. ( Brassicaceae), a perennial herb, is indigenous to Iran. The essential oils of flowering tops and leaves of the plant were evaluated by GC-MS. Our results showed that while 2-methyl-5-hexenitrile (19.5%) and benzyl cyanide (16.9%) were the check details major components of flowering tops oil, the oil of the leaves was dominated by octyl-acetate (54.3%) and butenyl-4-isothiocyanates (22.6%). The oils Small Molecule Compound Library exhibited modest allelopatic effects on lettuce. The leaf oil showed high-cytotoxic effects against Mc-Coy cell lines, with an RC(50) value of 16 mu g mL(-1).”
“Introduction: Congenital nasal pyriform aperture
stenosis (CNPAS) is a rare cause of neonatal upper airway obstruction. This study is to review the presentation and management of this uncommon condition in a tertiary paediatric ENT centre in Scotland, United Kingdom.
Methods: Retrospective case note review between 2003 and 2011. A literature search was performed using MEDLINE and EMBASE between April and June 2011 using search terms ‘pyriform aperture’ in combination with diagnosis and treatment. Suitable references were also selected and reviewed.
Results: A total of 10 cases were identified and 50% of Ganetespib molecular weight cases were managed surgically. Surgical widening of the pyriform aperture was performed at an average of 14 days at birth. Associated malformations include holoprosencephaly, hypopituitarism, cardiac and urogenital malformations.
Conclusion: CNPAS is a
treatable cause of upper airway obstruction. Early recognition is vital to appropriate management. Treatment is either conservative or surgical and depends on the severity of symptoms. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ireland Ltd. All rights reserved.”
“Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a well-established image modality in ophthalmology and used daily in the clinic. Automatic evaluation of such datasets requires an accurate segmentation of the retinal cell layers. However, due to the naturally low signal to noise ratio and the resulting bad image quality, this task remains challenging. We propose an automatic graph-based multi-surface segmentation algorithm that internally uses soft constraints to add prior information from a learned model. This improves the accuracy of the segmentation and increase the robustness to noise. Furthermore, we show that the graph size can be greatly reduced by applying a smart segmentation scheme.
